Lions drop SHAC game to Eastern

The Fairfield Lions suffered their second Southern Hills Athletic Conference loss of the season on Thursday (April 18), with the Lions losing on the road to the Eastern Warriors in Sardinia by a 3-1 score. 

The SHAC game was closely played Thursday, with both teams scoring a run in the first inning for the 1-1 score. 

That was the only run scored by the Lions, but for the Warriors, they scored a run in the bottom of the third and added one last insurance run in the bottom of the fourth for the win over Fairfield. 

Fairfield was also held to one hit against Eastern, while the Warriors had eight hits. Eastern also committed one error, while the Lions had no errors. 

The lone hit for the Lions was off the bat of Corbin Willey, who was 1-for-3 with an RBI. Zane Matthews scored the lone run for the Lions, as he also had a steal in the game. Gabe Fouch and Nolan Campbell each had a walk. 

Cade Miller pitched six innings in the loss, allowing two earned runs on six hits and three walks, throwing 101 pitches, 60 for strikes. Miller totaled five strikeouts. Fouch allowed one run on two hits. 

The loss sends Fairfield to an overall record of 9-3.
