Lady Lions’ offense erupts for 15 runs on 15 hits in win over West Union

The Fairfield Lady Lions traveled to West Union High School to play the Lady Dragons in a Southern Hills Athletic Conference game played Friday afternoon, leaving with a 15-run win in five innings for the Southern Hills Athletic Conference victory.

The Lady Lions improved to 7-4 overall and 4-2 in the SHAC.

Fairfield walked off the bus swinging their bats, collecting six runs on six hits in the top of the first inning to take an early lead.

In the first, Sydney Hooper singled to lead off the game. Rilee Quickle followed with a single, and Jobey Hattan drove both home with a double to deep centerfield.

One out later, Faith Miller singled and Emmi Vance followed with a single to drive in Hattan and Miller. Katelyn Chambliss reached base on a fielder’s choice, and Carly Sanders blasted a home run over the left field fence to give the Lady Lions an early 6-0 lead.

Fairfield added four runs in the top of the second inning. In the inning, Quickle singled, Hattan tripled, Sydney Sanders doubled, Vance walked and Katelyn Chambliss singled.

West Union scored an unearned run in the bottom of the third inning. Fairfield completed the scoring with five runs in the top of the fourth inning. Vance, Hooper, Sydney Sanders and Miller had hits in the inning.

Leading hitters for the Fairfield Lady Lions:  Sydney Hooper (2-for-4, 2 runs), Rilee Quickle (2-for-3, walk, 3 runs), Jobey Hattan (2-for-3, double, triple, 2 runs, 3 RBI), Sydney Sanders (3-for-4, double, 1 run, 2 RBI), Faith Miller (2-for-4, 1 run), Emmi Vance (2-for-3, walk, 2 runs, 2 RBI), Katelyn Chambliss (1-for-2, double, 1 run, 2 RBI) and Carly Sanders (1-for-3, home run, 1 run, 2 RBI).

Quickle (1-0) was the winning pitcher for Fairfield, pitching five innings with four hits, one run, no earned runs, four walks and three strikeouts.
