Lady Lions fall to Wheelersburg and Eastern

In two recent games, the Fairfield Lady Lions were defeated by the Wheelersburg Lady Pirates in a non-conference game, followed by a loss to the Eastern Lady Warriors in Southern Hills Athletic Conference action.

On Wednesday, Jan. 15, the Lady Lions lost on the road to the Wheelersburg Lady Pirates 48-24 in non-conference action.

FHS was outscored 13-4 in the first quarter, and in the second quarter Fairfield was outscored 11-8 in the second for a halftime score of 24-12.

In the second half, Fairfield scored two points in the third and 10 points in the fourth frame. Wheelersburg added 18 points in the third quarter and six points in the fourth frame.

For the Lady Lions, they were led in scoring by Isabelle Hale, Rilee Quickle and Vivian Henninger with five points each, as Hale made a 3-pointer and two-point basket.

Quickle finished with a 3-pointer and two-point basket, while Henninger made two two-point basket and a free throw.

Addison Cannon totaled four points off two baskets, Paisley Stahlhut totaled three points with a 3-pointer, and finishing with two points with a basket was Meri Jackson.

As a team, Fairfield totaled seven two-point baskets, three 3-pointers and they were 1-of-7 from the free-throw line.

Wheelersburg was led in scoring by Mia Vastine with 15 points and Peyton Ward with 11 points.

Other final scoring totals for WHS were Callie DeHart (four), Ava Artrip (eight), Emma Smith (four), Mackenzie Mullens (three) and Jaylinn Prather (three).

Team totals for Wheelersburg were 15 two-point baskets, four 3-pointers, and they were 6-of-13 from the free-throw line.

The Fairfield Lady Lions lost on the road in a non-conference game Thursday, Jan. 18 to the host Eastern Lady Warriors, 42-28.

EHS won the first frame at 9-4, and in the second quarter it was Eastern outscoring Fairfield 11-8 for a 20-12 halftime lead for the hosts.

In the third quarter, Fairfield scored 12 points, while EHS added 13 points to their overall total. The fourth quarter saw Eastern outscore the Lady Lions, 9-2.

Tabby Schumacher led EHS with 14 points, followed by Sophia Uhl with 13 points. The rest of Eastern’s scoring included Lilly Yippa (six), Olivia Uhl (four), Vivian Grimes (two), Clara Martin (two) and Alyssa Johnson (one).

Team totals for EHS included 15 two-point baskets, two 3-pointers, and they were 6-of-10 from the free-throw line.

Fairfield was led in scoring by Rilee Quickle with eight points, making two 3-pointers and a two-point basket. Meri Jackson totaled six points with three baskets from two-point range.

Also for FHS, Paisley Stahlhut totaled four points, Kassi Miller finished with four points, Isabelle Hale scored two points and Vivian Henninger ended the game with two points.

Team totals for the Lady Lions included eight two-point baskets, three 3-pointers and they were 1-of-6 from the free-throw line.

After the two games, Fairfield is now 2-10 overall and 1-6 in the SHAC Division II standings. Eastern is 12-5 overall and 7-2 in the Division I SHAC standings.
