Fairfield volleyball wins 5-set match against Clinton-Massie
Beginning their 2024 season on Saturday (Aug. 17), the Fairfield Lady Lions volleyball team battled with the visiting Clinton-Massie Lady Falcons, winning in five sets at FHS on the non-conference contest.
Fairfield won the first and second sets by scores of 25-23 and 25-19. Clinton-Massie won the next two sets at 25-18 and 25-21.
In the fifth and final set (winner was first with 15 points and ahead by two), it was the Lady Lions gaining the win with a 15-7 score.
The Lady Lions saw Jobey Hattan lead the way with 20 kills, while Remi Moon finished with 13 kills. They were followed by McKinley Cox with four kills, Mackenzie Anderson with four kills and Jorja May with three kills.
Anderson was the assists leader for FHS with 30, followed by Moon with five, Hattan with two and Cox with one ace.
Moon led Fairfield with eight aces, while teammate Kelsie Crowder had two aces, and with one ace each were Anderson, Alyssa Bales, Cox and Hattan.
Fairfield totaled 87 digs with Bales totaling 21, Hattan with 20, Moon totaling 17 and Anderson with 16. Also having digs were Crowder (four), Kyla Thomas (three), May (two) and Paisley Stahlhut (one).
The Lady Lions also collected nine blocks, with Cox and Thomas each having three, May with two and Mya McIntosh totaling one block.
