Fairfield takes down Falcons in non-conference weekend game

Taking the diamond on Saturday (April 27), the Fairfield Lions earned a run-rule victory over the visiting Clinton-Massie Falcons by a 15-5 score. 

The win saw the Lions collect 12 hits and one error, while CMHS had seven hits and two errors. 

For Fairfield, Zane Matthews ended the game at 3-for-4 with three runs and four RBI. 

Cade Miller was 2-for-3 with two runs, two walks and two RBI. Nolan Campbell also had two hits, going 2-for-3 with three runs and a walk. 

Corbin Willey was 1-for-3 with five RBI, and teammate Wyatt Willey was 1-for-3 with one RBI. 

Cody Frost ended the game at 1-for-3 with a run and a walk. Blaine Fauber was 1-for-2 with a run, one RBI and a walk. Cameron Miller was 1-for-1 with one RBI. 

The Lions also had Gabe Fouch with three walks, Caleb Rice scored two runs, Carson Chandler collected one RBI and Corey Zimmerman collected both an RBI and a walk. 

Extra-base hits for FHS included a triple by Corbin Willey and a triple by Frost. 

Matthews (two), Campbell (two) and Rice all had steals. 

Matthews was the winning pitcher, finishing the game with six innings pitched, allowing five runs (four earned) on seven hits and no walks. 

Fairfield is now 12-3 overall this season.
