Fairfield Lions drop game to Washington Blue Lions

In a non-conference home game on Friday (March 29), the Fairfield Lions lost to the Washington Blue Lions, 9-1.
The Division II Blue Lions — a program that reached the Div. II Final Four last season — led 2-1 after the first inning, and the visitors followed that inning with a two-run second and five-run third inning to complete the scoring for the non-conference game.
Washington finished the game with nine hits, and they committed three errors. Fairfield also committed three errors in the loss, totaling one hit for the game.
Zane Matthews had Fairfield’s lone hit, as he was 1-for-3 with a run and a steal. Corbin Willey and Cody Frost each had a walk for FHS.
The pitching loss went to Wyatt Willey of Fairfield, as he pitched 2.1 innings, striking out two batters. Also pitching for FHS were Matthews (0.2IP, one strikeout) and Carson Chandler (4IP, two strikeouts).
The loss sends Fairfield to an overall record of 2-2 this season.
