Fairfield earns 17th win of season by defeating Manchester with run-rule victory

The Fairfield Lions capped off their 2023 Southern Hills Athletic Conference Division I championship season with one last conference victory, defeating the Manchester Greyhounds, 10-0 at FHS on Tuesday night, May 9.

Fairfield finishes their SHAC season at 12-1, and their overall record is 17-5.

In the 10-run, six-inning win, the Lions totaled 12 hits and held Manchester to just one hit in the game. Manchester also committed four errors, and FHS had one error.

Fairfield scored four runs in the bottom of the second, followed by one run in the third, four runs in the fifth and they had one run in the sixth inning.

Wyatt Collins went 2-for-4 at the plate for the Lions, while nine FHS players each collected one hit.

Noah Allering was 1-for-3 with two runs, a walk and a steal. Teammate Blaine Fauber finished 1-for-1 with a run, Gabe Fouch went 1-for-3 with a run, two RBI and one walk. Landry Hattan finished 1-for-4 with one RBI, as his hit was a double.

Elijah Humphreys finished 1-for-1, Zane Matthews went 1-for-4 with one run and one RBI. Cade Miller for Fairfield went 1-for-3 with a run, two RBI, a double, and he had one walk.

Dow Moon ended the day at 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI, plus he collected a walk. Wyatt Willey was 1-for-2 with one run, a walk and he had a steal.

Wyatt Harner scored one run for the Lions, and Owen Larrick had an RBI.

Fouch was the winning pitcher as he pitched all six innings, allowing no runs on one hit and three walks. Fouch collected 16 strikeouts in the victory.
