Fairfield dominates Paint Valley Lady ’Cats

In their early afternoon varsity girls basketball game on Saturday (Jan. 27), the Fairfield Lady Lions dominated the visiting Paint Valley Lady Bearcats, winning by 38 points by a final score of 56-18. 

Fairfield wasted no time with their dominance, outscoring PVHS 19-0 in the first quarter and 14-9 in the second frame for a 33-9 halftime lead. 

It was more of the same in the third quarter with the Lady Lions outpacing Paint Valley 17-6 in the eight-minute quarter. FHS won the fourth frame as well at 6-3. 

Kelsey Clark led the strong effort by Fairfield with 17 points, two rebounds, two assists and three steals. 

Faith Donley was next with 15 points, four rebounds, four assists, three steals and three blocks. 

Rilee Quickle finished with eight points, seven rebounds and one steal. 

Isabelle Hale totaled six points for Fairfield, while also totaling nine rebounds, three assists and two steals.

Other final scoring for the Lady Lions included Kassi Miller (three), Vivian Henninger (two), Alyssa Bales (two), McKinley Cox (two) and Meri Jackson (one). 

As a team, FHS totaled 37 rebounds with eight players grabbing boards (Hale 9, Quickle 7, Jackson 6, Henninger 4, Donley 4, Miller 3, Clark 2 and Bales 2). 

FHS also had 16 assists, 14 steals, three blocks and committed 26 turnovers. 

The win improved Fairfield to 5-12 overall, which moved to 6-12 after a win Monday against Manchester, and they are currently 4-7 in the SHAC Division II standings.
