Fairfield baseball earns road win at Paint Valley
The Fairfield Lions scored runs in three innings on Thursday in Bainbridge, defeating the Paint Valley Bearcats by a 5-1 score in non-conference.
The Lions scored a run each in the first and second inning, then in the top of the fifth, the Lions added two more runs. They scored their last run in the seventh. PVHS scored one run in the bottom of the fourth.
For the game, Fairfield totaled seven hits and committed one error. The Bearcats had three hits and two errors.
Gabe Fouch led the Lions at 2-for-4 with a run. Zane Matthews was 1-for-1 with a run, a walk and a HBP. Landry Hattan went 1-for-2 with a hit, two RBI and a HBP.
Also with hits for the Lions were Wyatt Willey (1-for-2, two HBP), Noah Allering (1-for-4) and Wyatt Collins (1-for-3, one run).
Dow Moon scored a run and forced a walk, and Cade Miller collected a run, two walks and was hit by a pitch.
Miller was the winning pitcher, going seven innings on the mound, where he allowed one earned run on three hits and two walks. He totaled seven strikeouts as he threw 98 pitches, 66 for strikes and faced 27 batters.
FHS now stands at 10-4 overall and 6-1 in the Southern Hills Athletic Conference.
