Youth groups unite for 'Mission Possible'
Highland County youth ministers have united for a project called "Mission Possible."
This is a youth community service project day that ends with dinner and a worship service. This is the second annual event of its kind. Last year, it was hosted by the YMCA and this year, the city of Hillsboro hosted the event at the Liberty Park amphitheater and pavilions.
This summer on July 18, 60 participants (45 students and 15 adult volunteers) served several different nonprofits and organizations in the Highland County area. The crews of students and adults worked at the Southern Ohio Pregnancy Center, the Highland County Homeless Shelter, Samaritan Outreach, New Life Ministries, Liberty Park, Senior Citizens Center, the Leesburg Friendly Village Community Center, the Greenfield Area Christian Center and the Christian Union Campgrounds.

Each crew put in four hours of community service at their work site. Some of the work involved landscaping, and some was handing out food to those in need.
It is their hope that the youth of Highland County begin to work together and worship together more frequently and that the community take notice of the hard work and dedication of the young people of Highland County.
The churches that were involved in planning the event were Hillsboro Church of Christ (Homer Holsted), Hillsboro First United Methodist Church (Josh Hughes), Good News Gathering (Patti Lengefeld), Leesburg United Methodist Church (Laura Hannah) and New Directions of Greenfield (Mike Anderson). They plan to host the event again next summer.
Every church in the Highland County area is more than welcome to join in this cause or at least send their students to participate in being the hands and feet of Christ in Christian service.
