Young author Elijah Spowal brings joy to nursing home residents with his debut book, 'The Forest of Lost Robots'

BLANCHESTER – At just 10 years old, Elijah Spowal has already achieved a dream many aspire to – writing and sharing his very own book.
On March 1, Elijah visited Continental Manor nursing home in Blanchester to read "The Forest of Lost Robots" to a delighted audience of residents. Accompanied by his beloved pet cockapoo, Winston – dressed for the occasion in a charming tuxedo collar – Elijah brought his imaginative world to life, captivating everyone in the room.
Elijah has been crafting stories since he was a small child, often sketching his own illustrations and binding together little books. Writing and publishing a book has always been a dream of his, and now, with The Forest of Lost Robots, that dream has become a reality. His book features an adventurous cockapoo dog, a character inspired by his own furry companion, Winston.
During his visit to Continental Manor, Elijah read aloud to an engaged audience, who listened intently as he shared his story. When he finished, the room erupted in applause, and residents eagerly asked questions. One resident inquired, “How did you come up with that ending? It was perfect!”
Elijah, beaming with pride, happily shared his creative process and inspirations.
“Elijah’s visit was truly special,” said Activity Director Lisa Beach. “His passion for storytelling and his ability to connect with our residents through his book and Winston’s presence brought so much joy to everyone here.”
Elijah’s journey as a young author is just beginning, and he hopes to continue writing and sharing his stories with the world. His visit to the nursing home was a testament to the power of storytelling in bringing people together, no matter their age.
