Wilmington College-Community Summer Theatre to present ‘The Addams Family’

The cast is set, rehearsals are under way and tickets are on sale for Wilmington College-Community Summer Theatre’s presentation of the musical comedy, “The Addams Family,” July 13, 14, 15 and 16 in Hugh G. Heiland Theatre.
Show time is 7:30 p.m. for the Thursday, Friday and Saturday evening performances, while the curtain will rise for the Sunday matinee at 2:30 p.m.

WC alumna Cherie Cooper-Darrugh returns to summer theatre as director of the production. She directed “The Drowsy Chaperone” in summer of 2014.
“The Addams Family” takes audiences into the “lovable family of creepy kooks” who are alive and well and living in Central Park. The family, led by the “elegantly gaunt and seemingly undead” Morticia and her ever-devoted husband Gomez, is in turmoil. Their daughter, Wednesday, now 18, finds herself falling in love. When the teen invites her new boyfriend over with his “normal” family to get better acquainted with the Addams household, comic chaos — including everything from mixed-up potions to a scorching tango — ensues.
Bryan Wallingford is cast as Gomez Addams with Tricia Heys playing Morticia Addams, Tim Brausch as Uncle Fester, Abby Smith as Grandmama, Rylee Riggs as Wednesday Addams, Tori Kocher as Pugsley Addams, Timothy Larrick as Lurch, Ryan Oates as Lucas Beineke, Andrew Conarroe as Mal Beineke and Gina Beck as Alice Beineke.
The ancestors include: Bethany Brausch, Keni Brown, Claudia Wallace Fowler, Gavin Hubbard, Cole Haugh, Emilia Knisley, Alexia Minton, Troy Oates, Jackson Tufte, Maria Tucker and Jessica Yankel.
In addition to Cooper-Darrugh, the production staff features: J. Wynn Alexander, set designer; Becky Haines, lighting designer; Cole Haugh, choreographer; Matthew Spradlin, musical director; and Aaron Mood, assistant musical director.
Reservations can be made by contacting the Theatre Box Office weekdays, from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m., at (937) 481-2267. The box office is located in the theatre lobby, Boyd Cultural Arts Center, College and Douglas streets.
