Vintage bridal exhibit closing soon

By
Kathy Levo, Highland County Historical Society

The final days of the Highland House Museum’s vintage bridal exhibit will be Friday and Saturday, Aug. 23-24 and Aug. 30-31 from 1-4 p.m., giving folks four different days to see this unique exhibit before it closes.

By popular request, Aug. 31 will feature the second recreation of the March 1803 wedding of Polly Walker and Michael Stroup (played by Tara and Jeff Beery), with Bob Brown playing the Squire. This will take place at noon in front of the log cabin behind the museum, weather permitting.

In addition, Michael and Polly will share some information on their life and family leading up to their portraits hanging in an upstairs bedroom of the museum.

Cookies and punch will be served in the Hodson House afterward. The museum exhibit will be opened at 1 p.m.
