Toys for Tots program provides for needy children

Highland County food pantry, Samaritan Outreach Services, is again partnering with the Toys for Tots program to make sure each child in Highland County has something under the tree this holiday season. 
Toys for Tots Local Area Coordinator, Becky Barnes said, "As we move into our second year of working with the Toys for Tots program here at Samaritan Outreach, we know what to expect. We’ve had more time to plan, have been able to work with more area businesses, and are expecting to have a great holiday season.”
County residents may register for the program on Dec. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Samaritan, 537 N. East St., Hillsboro.

Individuals signing up must bring valid ID, birth certificates for all children, and proof of household income. Participation is only open to those residents who have not already signed up to receive holiday toys through another organization.

For people wanting to donate, they may drop off new, unwrapped toys at the following locations:
• Hillsboro: Big Ernie’s Pizza, Community Market, Danville Church of Christ, Dollar General, Family Dollar (Highland Plaza), Family Dollar (W. Main Street), Highland County Senior Center, Highland Lanes, Hillsboro City Building, Hillsboro Police Station, K-Mart, Kroger, NCB, Paint Creek Joint Fire/EMS, Peebles, Samaritan Outreach, Single Office Stop, Time Warner Cable, Veterans Service Commission and Walgreens. 
• Greenfield: Dollar General, Greenfield City Bldg, Merchants Bank (Washington Street), Merchants Bank (Jefferson Street), Paint Creek Joint Fire/EMS and Shopko. 
• Leesburg: Dollar General, Highland County North Joint Fire Department and Southern Hills Community Bank. Lynchburg: Southern Hills Community Bank.
• Mowrystown: Chuck Wait Tire, Old Y Restaurant.
• Sinking Spring: Family Dollar.
• Rainsboro: Paint Creek Joint Fire/EMS.

Monetary donations may be may be sent to Toys for Tots, P.O. Box 242, Hillsboro, Ohio 45133. All money collected in Highland County, stays in Highland County.
