The series will kick off with the return of James McLaughlin, former Hillsboro resident and now of Zanesville, who will present his third annual Hillsboro organ recital. Joining Jim on this recital will be John Glaze, organist of St. Mary’s, and Jennie Harner, who will perform on flute. In addition, Mick McLaughlin, Jim’s brother, and Dan McLaughlin, his cousin, will join him. Of unusual interest will be an organ duet featuring Jim and John – four arms and four legs, playing one organ.

On Nov. 1, the Appalachian Christian Hillbilly Band, from south central Ohio, will present a program of toe-tapping music, some comedy and a few serious numbers. This group is a sure-fire crowd pleaser.

On Dec. 6, Southern State Singers will return to St. Mary’s and present their 17th annual Christmas Concert, and on Dec. 20, A St. Mary’s Christmas will feature musicians of St. Mary’s presenting a concert of Christmas music.

After a hiatus for the uncertainty of the winter months, St. Mary’s musicians will present a Lenten Concert on March 13. Then, on March 20, we will welcome The Voices Of Ohio, a dynamic, exciting, professional adult vocal show group that performs a wide variety of contemporary and traditional music. Their repertoire includes music that celebrates the American heritage and spirit, with a variety of pop, rock, country, show tunes, songs of faith and patriotic music.

On April 3, we welcome the Cincinnati Children’s Choir, a well-known group who has trained young singers for nearly a quarter of a century. The group, which is associated with the University of Cincinnati Conservatory of Music, touches over 1,000 Greater Cincinnati children in grades one through 12, who benefit from this educational venue focusing on performance as a result of the children’s education.

On April 17, Southern State Singers will return to St. Mary’s for their 17th Spring Concert.

Music at St. Mary’s began with an idea of John Glaze, who wanted to build upon the concerts already being presented by the church musicians and Southern State Singers. The concerts are presented without admission charge and are supported solely by donations received at the concerts and from Friends of Music at St. Mary’s.

The church has committed to underwrite any shortfall between the costs of presenting the concerts and donations received. Further information will precede each event. Brochures of the series are available from St. Mary’s Episcopal Church. To request a brochure or an answer to a question, contact John Glaze at the church or email masmhillsboro@gmail.com.
