Southern State holds auditions for 'The Elephant Man' Sept. 25

The Southern State Community College Theatre Department will hold auditions for the upcoming fall production of “The Elephant Man” 6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 25, in the Edward K. Daniels Auditorium on Southern State Community College’s Central Campus, 100 Hobart Drive, Hillsboro. Auditions are open to both students and the public. The play will take the stage Nov. 13-15.

“The Elephant Man,” written by Bernard Pomerance and directed by Rainee Angles, tells the true story of a man whose body is hideously deformed.
John Merrick, remarkably sensitive and intelligent, is exploited by Victorian society and philanthropy.
He is befriended by an ambitious and brilliant young surgeon who looks after him in his last few years, finding him a home in a London hospital.
