Scott Antique Markets reopens in Washington Court House

It was a rainy beginning at the Fayette County Fairgrounds, but the weather brightened up and so did the shopping at Scott Antique Markets April 26-27 in Washington Court House.
Beautiful furniture filled many booths at the market awaiting new customers. Wardrobe pieces are gaining popularity, according to Tim Zoda, a vendor in the Sales Arena building. He also had stunning antique tables and chairs, dressers with ornate mirrors, a large trunk and a wooden stacking filing cabinet made in New York that he had already sold Friday morning.

Another vendor, Jake Decker, had a 1940s hideaway bar, complete with a hanging shelf for wine glasses, numerous glassware holders and plenty of shelf space for your favorite bottles.
Toys were also in abundance at the show. Disney pieces from the 1920s-1950s, including a model set of the Seven Dwarfs and a Jack-in-the-box featuring Donald Duck inside, lined shelves in the Mahan building. A pre-electric pinball machine on display in John Johnson’s booth didn’t last long before a buyer scooped it up. The Bingo Planet pinball machine, which had a $465 price, was encased in wood with a glass top and was made in 1932.
Vendors with china, glassware, antique silverware and beautifully crafted linens talked to customers wanting to spruce up their dining tables. Longaberger baskets were pored over by a repeat shopper picking out a piece for his daughter’s collection.
Numerous customers enjoyed strolling through the fairgrounds from building to building over the weekend looking for pieces to take home and enjoy. One such customer left the grounds with a matching gray pot and kettle set in excellent condition to add to his and his wife’s collection. A group of shoppers left with antique tools and decorator items to be used in new homes.
The charming Fayette County Fairgrounds held something for everyone to enjoy over the weekend and will continue to do so all summer long.
