Sara Newsome earns Ohio Fairs' Queen first runner-up

Sara Newsome represented Highland County Jr. Fair and District 4 at the Ohio Fairs' Queens Contest on May 22, where she was awarded first runner-up.
Sara is an eight-year 4-H member. She enjoys showing poultry and exhibiting special interest projects, as well as participating in a multitude of fair contests. She is entering her senior year at Hillsboro High School while taking courses at The Ohio State University in psychology and neuroscience. She plans to continue her education after high school by attending law school and later working within the family court system.
Sara wants to let everyone know to “Be present in the moment and remember that while you’re competing for an amazing opportunity, you’re also meeting so many new people and learning about other fairs. At the end of the day, you’re going to walk away as queens, and your county is proud of everything you’ve accomplished.”
Sara is right, as a Highland County resident I am proud of what she and so many youths can accomplish. Keep striving to do your best Highland County, and congratulations Sara as the 2021 Ohio Fairs' Queen first runner-up.
