Sally Moser guest speaker for Hillsboro Woman's Club

Rose O’Neill (1874-1944) was called the Mother of “Kewpie” and the queen of magazine illustration.

She was an author, artist, poet, sculptor, inventor and suffragette.

Rose is best and world known for her drawings and illustrations of angelic, cupid-type figures she inserted in her love stories.

At age 13, she won a drawing contest, sponsored by the Omaha World Herald; and in 1893, at age 19, her work began appearing in Harper’s Monthly, Harper’s Weekly, Harper’s Bazaar, Life, Broadway Life, Colliers’s and Puck Magazine in 1896. In December 1909, Kewpies made their debut in Ladies’ Home Journal.

Sally Moser, a Quester and collector, will be sharing her Kewpie Doll Wedding party and the life of a wonderful woman, Rose O’Neil, with the Hillsboro Woman's Club on April 9.

Sally is president of the Ohio Questers, an International group of collectors who learn by research and study of antiques and collectibles, SHARE in knowledge and friendship and preserve through restoration and conservation of historic buildings, sites and antiquities.

She is a part of the Franklinton Chapter of Questers in the Columbus area. Prior to retirement, Sally was a director of human resources for 25 years in the Cleveland and Columbus area. She lives in Westerville.
