Saint Nick comes to town

With Christmas quickly approaching, Santa Claus made several stops in Hillsboro over the weekend.

On Saturday alone, Santa was spotted at the Highland County Family YMCA, Highland Lodge #38, Ventura’s Feed and Country Store, Five Points Implement, Walgreens and Rite Aid, among other places.

Local youngsters, and even family pets, had a chance to meet Saint Nick and get a photo with the jolly ol’ elf.

The children told Santa how good they’ve been this year and told him their Christmas wishes, while the pets let him know what toys and treats they’d like in their stockings on Dec. 25.

“Ho, ho, ho, I had a chance to meet a lot of children in Highland County today,” Santa told The Highland County Press. “There are many, many kids on the nice list this year, and I enjoyed chatting with them.

“But I better get going, I’m making my list, and checking it twice! Merry Christmas, everyone!”
