‘Ready, Set, Solar!’ program will simplify the journey to solar energy for Ohioans

By
Solar United Neighbors, Press Release

Solar United Neighbors (SUN) announced that its "Ready, Set, Solar!" program now has resources and opportunities tailored specifically for southern Ohio. The program offers a comprehensive resource designed to guide Ohio residents through the process of going solar.

“With solar panel prices continuing to drop and various solar incentives available, there’s no time like the present to go solar. The Ready, Set, Solar! program will ensure that participants are well-informed and prepared to take advantage of these opportunities,” said Mryia Williams, Ohio Program Associate with SUN.

Once participants sign up for the Ready, Set, Solar! program, they will receive regular emails from the nonprofit SUN with actionable steps to make the journey to solar energy simple and manageable. These bite-sized actions will allow them to choose the best solar company for their needs and gradually build up to the final step of installing solar panels, enabling homeowners to generate their own clean, home-grown electricity.

"Going solar was a great decision," said Richard Bardales of Lancaster, who went solar through a previous SUN program. "My electric bills have gone down, and I feel good knowing that I'm generating my own power and putting just a little less carbon into the atmosphere. Best of all, I didn't have to do it alone — the folks at Solar United Neighbors were able to answer questions and guide me throughout the process. Having a community of support made going solar much easier."

The Ready, Set, Solar! program will provide personalized support, allowing participants to have their questions answered and receive tailored advice by simply replying to the program’s emails. The dedicated Ohio team at SUN will be available to assist every step of the way, ensuring a smooth and confident transition to solar energy. Participants will also get to connect virtually with other Ohioans interested in going solar, to discuss their experiences, share insights and build community.

To date, SUN has helped almost 700 Ohio families go solar by supporting them through localized solar co-ops. That equates to about $25 million in lifetime energy savings and a reduction of 90,000+ metric tons of lifetime carbon emissions. This new program builds on their work by bringing their expertise to a broader geographic area, so that anyone in southern Ohio can access it.
