The Paxton Theatre is excited to announce Disney’s 'Beauty & The Beast, Jr.' and the second year of the Paxton Theatre Camp, happening at The Paxton Theatre in Bainbridge.

On June 6-10, directors of Disney’s 'Beauty & The Beast, Jr.’ Jeff and Jenna Horick, will instruct students entering grades one through 12 on acting techniques, make-up, stage combat, costumes and acting games and explore what actors and crew members do while onstage or backstage. The Horicks have worked many years in the theatre and have been educators at Hillsboro Elementary for nearly 20 years.

Auditions for Disney’s 'Beauty & The Beast, Jr.' will be held on Saturday, June 11 at noon. The classic story tells of Belle, a beautiful young bookworm in a provincial town, and the Beast, who is really a young prince trapped under the spell of an enchantress. If the Beast can learn to love and be loved, the curse will end and he will be transformed to his former self. But time is running out. If the Beast does not learn his lesson soon, he and his household will be doomed for all eternity.

Those auditioning are asked to bring to read, or memorize, a short one-minute comedic monologue. If students are unable to find material, an option will be provided at auditions. Auditioners will also be asked to sing a short song.

Participation in the camp is not required to participate in Disney’s 'Beauty & The Beast, Jr.' All auditioners must be entering grades one through 12 in the fall. No one older will be considered for a role.

Disney’s 'Beauty & The Beast, Jr.' will be performed July 29 - 31.

The camp will be held Monday through Friday, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day. All participants will receive a free Paxton Theatre Camp T-shirt upon completion of the camp, and be guaranteed at least a minor role in the summer production of Disney’s 'Beauty & The Beast, Jr.’

Parents and guardians interested in registering their child should visit www.PaxtonTheatre.com to sign up their child. The cost for each student is $80, and the final day for registration is June 1.
