Community Action Committee of Pike County, Press Release

OhioMeansJobs Pike County is proud to announce its participation in In-Demand Jobs Week, taking place from May 6-10.

In-Demand Jobs Week is a statewide celebration highlighting the jobs, industries and skills that are vital to Ohio's economy.
In-demand jobs are those that offer sustainable wages and promising futures based on projected growth and job openings. Ohio boasts over 200 occupations across various industries that fall under this category.

The state's In-Demand Jobs List is developed using labor market information and job postings on the state's website at topjobs.ohio.gov/week. The theme for In-Demand Jobs Week 2024 is "Ohio, The Heart of Opportunity."

In a statewide public service announcement made March 8:

“Whether you are completing a certification, learning a new skill, or moving up in your career, Ohio’s broad range of in-demand jobs means Ohio is truly the heart of opportunity,” stated Governor DeWine in the official news release on March 8. “I encourage students and all Ohioans to attend an In-Demand Jobs Week event and explore all the options in your community.”

“For this year’s In-Demand Jobs Week, we’re focusing on the fact that here in Ohio, we make the things the world needs to live and thrive," stated Lt. Governor Husted (in the same news release). "From the food you eat, to the cars you drive, to the trucks that deliver it, to the airplanes that fly it, to the cloud that connects us all, to the chips that power our devices. Whether you are looking to start a new career or advance in your current one, there is opportunity here for you.”

Job seekers are encouraged to visit the OhioMeansJobs Pike County Career Center located at the Community Action Committee of Pike County (CAC) at 941 Market Street in Piketon. Throughout the week-long initiative, job seekers can learn more about available career training programs, financial assistance for training (based on eligibility requirements), and current job openings that are considered "In-Demand."

To provide job seekers with a fresh perspective on careers in the trade-skills fields, the OMJ Center will host a special event on Thursday, May 9, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in which attendees will have the opportunity to experience immersive virtual reality simulations showcasing a vast catalogue of career opportunities.
