Lead Summary
By
Sarah Davidson-
The artwork currently on display in the Hillsboro library's fiction room were all painted by an artist whose talents were many and varied.

The late Jan Marie Donie painted, sculpted, made quilted tapestries and crafted dolls, her husband Wayne said. She studied at the Cincinnati Art Academy and was also in the local Brush and Palette Art Guild. Wayne Donie added that, during one of the guild's annual shows, she won the Best of Show award.

"She created about 18 paintings," he added. "They never got shown anywhere. Since her passing (last September), ... I've been putting her paintings up."

Three of her oil paintings are now hanging at the Hillsboro library. Her paintings will be up through November and December. Assistant supervisor Donna O'Dom said of Jan Marie Donie: "(Her) portrait talent is very detailed and beautifully brings the essence (of each picture) to life."

O'Dom added that a prime example of the artist's talent is in her portrait of two boys on a summer day.
