National Bank and Trust (NB&T) and Peoples Bank teamed up for their annual season of giving and presented a total of $15,000 in donations to regional food pantries and homeless shelters.

Peoples Bank through their Foundation and NB&T presented $12,000 to food pantries within the following five counties: Brown, Clermont, Clinton, Highland, and Warren. Each pantry will use the additional funds to purchase food and support on-going needs.

In addition, the banks made donations to two area homeless shelters totally $3,000. The announcement and check presentations were made during two separate luncheons, the first taking place on Monday, Dec. 22 at Clinton County Homeless Shelter and the second was on Tuesday, Dec. 23 at Clermont County Homeless Shelter.

“By combining forces we were able to make an even larger contribution and impact on basic human services for those less fortunate within the markets we serve,” said John Limbert, National Bank and Trust President & CEO.

The two companies will form a permanent relationship in the first quarter of 2015 when NB&T merges with Peoples Bank.

“Peoples Bank through its Foundation is proud to partner with NB&T to make donations to these important community organizations,” said Ed Reilly, Peoples Bank Executive Vice President & Regional President. “In the United States, one in six people struggle with hunger. This is also true across the markets we serve here in Southwest Ohio. If you have a child, chances are someone your child goes to school with struggles to get enough to eat."

Since the inception of Peoples Bancorp Foundation in 2003, the foundation has donated more than $250,000 to area food pantries.

According to Reilly, “Peoples Bancorp Foundation contributions focus on charitable giving in four major areas: community investment and economic development, youth and education, human services programs that improve the social needs of low- to moderate-income communities and individuals, and the arts and cultures. Organizations receiving grants meet those requirements and serve the markets where Peoples Bank currently has office locations.”
