Music at St. Mary's welcomes Appalachian Christian Hillbilly Band Nov. 1

Music at St. Mary’s continues with the Appalachian Christian Hillbilly Band on Nov. 1 at 3 p.m.

Don’t let the name fool you.

This isn’t your garden variety of a jug band with spoons and washboard. Granted, we’ll undoubtedly have those, but also banjo, guitar, mandolin, washtub bass, and a jug or two.

The singing will be from toe-tapping to old gospel songs that will undoubtedly bring back a memory or two.

Music from these folks is top-notch and their humor will range from “groaners” to laugh-out-loud funnies.

Over it all, you’ll experience the sense that these folks love God and aren’t afraid to show it. They frequently perform at Emmaus events in Chillicothe, other venues in south-central Ohio and have traveled as far as the Colorado/Wyoming area. The group represents around 12 churches in the area and the “ringleader” is Bill Fetters.

The Music at St. Mary’s concert series is provided to the Highland County community at no charge; however, donations are accepted the day of the concert. All concerts are held in the sanctuary of St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, 234 N. High St., Hillsboro.
