Music at St. Mary's Concert Series presents The Adagio Trio March 29

Music at St. Mary’s Concert Series is very proud to bring to Hillsboro the renowned group, The Adagio Trio. The group plays arrangements created by them or specifically for them and features a wide variety of music styles on harp, cello and flute.

The Adagio Trio was founded in 1985 by Kathryn Daniels, Michael Daniels, and Linda Grieser, when the Danielses were studying for their masters degrees at the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music.

They performed regularly for concerts, recitals, religious services, weddings, and receptions. In 1990, Michael took a position with the Virginia Symphony, and the Daniels moved to Norfolk, Va.

The trio continues to perform together traveling between the Virginia and Cincinnati areas.
 
Since 1997, the Adagio Trio has recorded five CDs. “Stillpoint,” “Sanctuary,” and “Evensong” are collections of classical, folk, Irish, Jewish and Christian music. “Winter Gift” is a collection of non-secular Christmas music.

In 2008, they released “Celtic Heart,” a recording of their arrangements of Irish, Welsh, and Scottish music. Their music is heard on public radio stations throughout the country. The CDs will be available after the concert with a portion of the proceeds benefiting St. Mary’s Episcopal Church’s "Soup's On" free meal program.
 
Kathryn Daniels, flutist, is a performer and teacher in southeastern Virginia. Her husband, Michael, has been principal cellist of the Virginia Symphony since 1990. Linda Grieser, harpist, performs and teaches Suzuki harp in the Cincinnati area. She enjoys playing for Hospice of Cincinnati patients and their families with her lever harp.

Music at St. Mary’s Concerts are presented to the community with no admission charge, however, donations will be accepted following the concert. This concert will be presented March 29 at 3 p.m. at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church. A reception will follow in Lacy Hall.

• Music at St. Mary’s Concert Series continues with a Lenten Concert to be presented March 15 at 2 p.m. at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church.

St. Mary’s organist, John Glaze, Jennie Harner, playing flute and Lynn Lowell playing piano will present the concert which will feature music of the Lenten season. There is no charge for Music at St. Mary’s Concerts; however, donations will be accepted following the concert.
