Music at St. Mary's Concert Series continues on Nov. 23

The Music at St. Mary’s Concert Series continues on Nov. 23 at 3 p.m. with a concert of early music presented by Collegium Musicum and My Musical Friends, both Early Music Performance Ensembles of Wilmington College.

Students join faculty and alumni to play music ranging from the Middle Ages in Europe to the 19th Century in America on reproductions of historical wind and string instruments as well as acoustic guitars and violins.

These groups reach out to their campus community as well as the Wilmington community by giving benefit concerts and performing for schools, churches and senior citizen facilities.

Established in 1971 by Emeritus Professor of Music, Robert J. Haskins, Collegium Musicum has been directed by Assistant Professor Elizabeth Haskins since 1978.

My Musical Friends is an instrumental ensemble specializing in the performance of early music (music of the 15th, 16th and 17th centuries) on period instruments.

Its members are graduates of Wilmington College. Elizabeth Haskins, ’73, Deborah Inlow, ’95 and Lori Scott, ’90, formed My Musical Friends in 1996.

Cheryl Bucholtz joined the ensemble upon graduation in 2002, and Angelica Zugg, 2013, became a member in 2014. This group performs at festivals, churches, libraries and schools throughout Southwestern Ohio, as well as at Wilmington College, the former Antioch University and the Ohio Renaissance Festival.

This concert, as every concert in the series, is free and open to the public, being underwritten by public donations as well as St. Mary’s Episcopal Church.
