MHS Class of 1963 celebrates 50th reunion

Members of the McClain class of 1963 met the weekend of Sept. 6-7 to commemorate their 50th graduation anniversary.
Those in town early gathered at Buckeye Hills Country Club on Friday evening. During the day Saturday, tours were offered by the Greenfield Historical Society to visit the Grain & Hay, Smith Tannery, Travellers Rest and the Old Stone Schoolhouse.
Later, the class took a tour through the high school building, highlighting the artwork and statues once taken for granted in their student days. Following a social hour in the MHS Cafetorium, a class photo was taken.
The room was abloom with seasonal purple and gold mums. A video, scrapbooks and photographs of the class from kindergarten onward provided a walk down memory lane.
Three Spoons catering provided a buffet dinner.
Class president Lester VonBargen welcomed classmates and several former teachers. Military veterans were recognized. A candlelight memoriam honored deceased classmates. VonBargen surprised his bride of 50 years, Cathy, with red roses to celebrate their anniversary, which coincided with the event. Everyone applauded the reunion committee for organizing the get-together.
