Making a hickory nut cake

I asked my nephew and niece at Mowrystown Presbyterian Church on Sunday morning if they could find any hickory nuts for me to make a cake.
My nephew, Adam Schelling, had to "Google" hickory nuts to see what they even looked like. He challenged my little niece to see who could find them first. She won.
Addison Fisher, a first-grader at Hillsboro Elementary School, and her grandma picked them up on Green Road. She picked up and counted 30 nuts in the bowl. Then, Grandma Jill said we need many more for the cake.
Addison picked up the bag full of hickory nuts, but said not going to count all of them for grandma this time.
Now we're ready for stage two. Cracking the nuts. Stage three: picking out the nut meats. Stage four: baking a cake. Stage five: eating the cake.
Oh, the good old days!
