Lynchburg held its 22nd annual Village Christmas on Dec. 12-13.

It was considered a huge success, says chairman, Bill McTague.

The event did suffer one problem concerning the free carriage rides. The carriage owners were a no-show, citing a scheduling conflict.

"To all the people who were expecting to ride the carriage, we offer our humble apologies," McTague said.

The free carriage rides are sponsored by several concerned businesses and one private citizen in the village, "people who believe in the village and want to make things happen here in Lynchburg," McTague said.

Lynchburg Village Christmas would like to thank their sponsors again for their contribution. The sponsors are Tom Pitzer Trucking, Rammel Poured Walls, Hamilton Insurance and the Turner family – Roger, Judy, Pam and Taylor – of Lynchburg.

"We are sorry to say that Judy Turner passed away last year, but her concern for the village lives on through her family," McTague said.

The Lynchburg branch of Southern Hills Community Bank generously donated a flat-screen TV for the free raffle that was held during the Village Christmas. This year's winner was Joetta Smithson from Clarksville. Smithson said this was her first year at the Village Christmas, and it would not be her last.
