Lynchburg Mayor Terry Burden and the Lynchburg Village Council recently donated a lot of land on Hastings Drive in Glenavy Hills to Habitat for Humanity of Highland County.

Habitat for Humanity thanks the Lynchburg mayor and council for the opportunity to build a future Habitat home in Lynchburg. If fundraising goes as planned, the group’s goal is to break ground in Lynchburg in the spring of 2017.

Habitat homes are sold to partner families, who take out a 20-year affordable mortgage loan at 0-percent interest. Homeowners invest hundreds of hours of labor, called “sweat equity,” while working alongside volunteers on his or her home. The homeowner’s mortgage payments are then used to help build more Habitat homes.

The Habitat for Humanity goal is “to give people a hand up, not a handout.”

If you would like to help make the dream of home ownership a reality for a deserving family in Highland County, please consider making a donation to this worthy cause. Checks can be made payable to Habitat for Humanity of Highland County, Ohio and mailed to PO Box 488, Hillsboro, Ohio 45133 or dropped off at the Habitat for Humanity “New to You” store, located at 160 West Main Street in Hillsboro, on Tuesdays from 4-7 p.m. or Saturdays from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
