Lynchburg Lions hear presentation on canine project

The Lynchburg Lions Club held their regular dinner meeting on April 25 at the Lions Club Building in Lynchburg.

Following the meal, the club heard an excellent presentation by Lion Beth Cauley from the Fairborn Lions Club. Cauley serves in the District Cabinet as the Lions Project for Canine Companions for Independence (LPCCI) chairperson.

Cauley discussed how companion dogs are trained and placed with persons who are handicapped or in need of a dog that can assist them. These dogs are service dogs and are not the same as pilot (seeing-eye) dogs.

The Lynchburg Lions Club organization supports many service projects, including the Companion Dog and Pilot Dog programs.
