Lynchburg Lions Club recognizes poster winners

The Lynchburg Lions Club and Lions Clubs International sponsor an annual Peace Poster Contest in the fall. The Lynchburg club encourages middle school students to develop a special poster on a theme related to promoting world peace.

Three winners are selected each year, and they are given certificates and cash prizes. The top three winners and their families will also be invited to a special dinner later this winter at the Lynchburg Lions Club building to honor them.

The top three winners this year in order are Paige Flowers, Annalyse Warner and Aubrey McKenzie. All three girls are students at the Lynchburg-Clay Middle School. Paige's award-winning poster was submitted to the district finals for competition at that level. Each Lions Club is encouraged to submit an entry from their local school. There are 45 Lions Clubs in District 13-J, and the Lynchburg club was proud to sponsor Flowers in the district contest.

Results were released on Nov. 18, and Flowers was ranked third in the district finals. The Lynchburg Lions Club congratulates all of the entrants and especially Flowers for winning the local contest and placing third in the overall district contest.
