Lynchburg Lions Club and Martinsville I.O.O.F. host annual car show

The annual car show sponsored by the Lynchburg Lions Club and Martinsville I.O.O.F. was held on Sunday, Oct. 13 at the Lynchburg Lions Club Park.

Awards were presented to the Best of Show winner, as well as the Best Ford, Best Chrysler, Best General Motors and Best "Other" Exhibitors. Plaques were also given to the other "top 20" winners. All exhibitors received dash plaques as a token of appreciation for their participation.

The Best of Show trophy was won by D.W. Hughes with a 1941 Willy's. The trophy was donated by Southern Hills Community Bank. The Best General Motors car plaque was won by Bill Wilmoth with a 1964 Chevrolet Bel-Air. The plaque donor was Jerry Haag Motors, Inc. The Best Ford plaque, donated by Bill Marine Ford, Inc., went to Cliff and Jean Barnes with a 1953 Mercury
Monterey. The Best Chrysler car was exhibited by Jim Wheeler with a 1934 Plymouth, with the plaque donated by Bob Malcom Chrysler - Dodge - Jeep. The best "Other" plaque was won by Randy and Linda Wilkin with a 1946 Studebaker. The award was donated by Sherwood Auto and Camper Sales.

Other "Top 20" plaque winners included Steve Parry, Bill Blackburn, Dennis Brooks, Jessie Holcomb, Denny Gantz, George Bennett, Pam Chandler, John Malone, Nick Malone, Garry Miller, Nick Barker, Fred Akers, Bob and Marge Campbell and Jim and Fran Cooper.

"Top 20" plaque donors included Wilbanks' Barber Shop, Turner and Son Funeral Homes, Martinsville I.O.O.F. Lodge #182, Roger Pence (Grand Lodge Grand Conductor), Sonner's Barber Shop, Buford Farmers Institute, Sunrise Bakery, American Way Tax and Accounting, Auto Tech Service Center, Westview Motors, Southern Hills Community Bank, Martinsville Lions Club, Bob Malcom Chrysler-Dodge-Jeep, I.O.O.F. Encampment #70 and the Lynchburg Lions Club.

The Lynchburg Lions Club provided the food, and the Lions Club and Martinsville I.O.O.F. cosponsored the show. All proceeds from the show will be used for these two groups' community service projects.
