Lynchburg community holds Litter Clean-Up, Arbor Day celebration

On Saturday, April 27, nearly 40 volunteers walked all streets, alleys and park areas in the village of Lynchburg picking up litter. The volunteers collected 65 bags of debris and litter.
A special thank-you goes out to the Mustangs Knothole baseball team, who covered the entire Old School Park area along with the ball diamonds. A big thanks to Boy Scout Troop 120, Girl Scout Troop 2721 and Cub Scout Troop 120. The Scout troops made up a big portion of the volunteers and helped load all of the bags.
After the Litter Clean Up, Lynchburg observed Arbor Day in Cramton Park. Thanks to a generous donation from the Hickey family, a weeping willow tree was planted. The Scouts enjoyed digging and playing in the dirt, and they were a big help digging, lifting and mulching.

Several small trees were given to the trivia winners. Coloring books and pins were also given. There was a great weather day with no rain. A delicious lunch was provided by Sharon and Dan at the Commons.
Thank you to all of the volunteers who participated in every way. A very productive day was pulled off at zero cost, thanks to the donations of trash bags, transportation, the tree, mulch and lunch. The Village of Lynchburg has a great way of coming together to get the job done. Everyone’s work is greatly appreciated.
