Lynchburg Car Show winners announced

The annual Car Show sponsored by the Lynchburg Lions Club and Martinsville IOOF was held Saturday, Oct. 6 at the Lynchburg Lions Club Park.
Awards were presented to the Best of Show winner as well as the Best Ford, Best Chrysler, Best General Motors, Best “Other” and Oldest Car exhibitors. Plaques were also given to the other Top 20 winners.
The following winners were announced at the Car Show:
• The Best of Show trophy, donated by Southern Hills Community Bank, was won by Bill Wilmoth with a 1964 Chevy Bel Air.
• Since the Chevy Bel Air won the Best of Show award, the Best General Motors car plaque, donated by Jerry Haag Motors, Inc., was presented to the second-best GM car, which was a 1965 Chevy Malibu owned by Howard Ady.
• The Best Ford plaque, donated by Bill Marine Ford, Inc., went to Barry Custis with a 1969 Mustang.
• The Best Chrysler car was exhibited by Bill Blackburn with a 1938 Dodge sedan. The plaque donor was Mt. Orab Chrysler - Dodge - Jeep - Ram.
• The Best “Other” plaque, donated by Sherwood Auto and Camper Sales, was won by Lloyd Reynolds with a #5 Mopar Rail.
• The Oldest Vehicle award, donated by Terry’s Pizza and Grocery, went to Mark Bond with a 1929 Ford Model A.
Other “Top Twenty” plaque winners included Nick Barker, Bob Hammonds, Larry Teboe, William Cheek, John Kidder, David Blankenship, Dick and Paulette Donley, Jim Morland, Robert Jirles, Melvin McQueen, Mike Stanton, Jerry Hammonds, Larry Godman, Lynn Carter and Mark Bond.
Top Twenty plaque donors included Pappy’s Pub, J.R. Dye Landscaping and Nursery, Martinsville Star-Orphan Hope Lodge #182, Hiawatha Encampment #70 IOOF, Pack’s Peak Auto and Towing, Just for Looks, Turner and Son Funeral Homes, American Way Tax and Accounting, Jo’s Vintage Barber Shop, Liberty Township Lions Club, Dwight Hamilton Insurance Agency, Brown’s Distributors of Martinsville, Tom Pitzer Trucking LLC, Lukas Pharmacy and Stephanie’s Grooming and Pet Care.
The Lynchburg Lions Club and the Martinsville Lions Club provided dash plaques for every exhibitor.
All exhibitors received dash plaques as a token of appreciation for their participation. A big thanks is extended to all the sponsors and supporters of the show, as well as congratulations to all the winners.
The Lynchburg Lions Club provided the food, and the Lions Club and Martinsville IOOF cosponsored the show. All proceeds will be used for these two groups’ community service projects.
