Lynchburg Car Show winners announced

The annual Car Show, sponsored by the Lynchburg Lions Club and Martinsville IOOF, was held on Saturday, Oct. 8 at the Lynchburg Lions Club Park.
Awards were presented to the Best of Show winner as well as the Best Ford, Best Chrysler, Best General Motors, Best “Other” and Oldest Car exhibitors. Plaques were also given to the other “Top 20” winners.
The following winners were announced at the Car Show:

• The Best of Show trophy, donated by Southern Hills Community Bank, was won by Doug Chaney with a 1969 Chevy Camero.
• The Best General Motors car plaque, donated by Jerry Haag Motors, Inc., was won by Larry and Patty Smalley with a 1964 Chevy Impala SS 409.
• The Best Ford plaque, donated by Bill Marine Ford, Inc., was won by Bo and Debbie Collins with a 1960 F-100.
• The Best Chrysler car was exhibited by Gary Kepplinger with a 1964 Plymouth Fury. The plaque donor was Mt. Orab Chrysler - Dodge - Jeep - Ram.
• The Best “Other” plaque, donated by Sherwood Auto and Camper Sales, was won by Randy and Linda Wilkin with a 1946 Studebaker pickup.
• The Oldest vehicle award, donated by Terry’s Pizza and Grocery, went to Lloyd Reynolds with a 1926 Ford Pierce Arrow Roadster.
Other “Top Twenty” plaque winners included Nick Barker, Jerry Hammons, Brad and Rhonda Brackett, Larry Teboe, Cliff and Jean Barnes, Lloyd Reynolds, Bob and Marge Campbell, Frank Terwilliger, Virgil McHenry, William Cheek, Lynn Carpenter, Richard Irvin, Don Tumbleson, John Setty, Ray Cook and Mark Bond.
Top Twenty plaque donors included Pappy’s Pub, J.R. Dye Landscaping and Nursery, Martinsville Star-Orphan Hope Lodge #182, Encampment $70 IOOF, Pack’s Peak Auto and Towing, Just for Looks, Turner and Sons Funeral Homes, Polish Me Perfect, Sunrise Bakery of New Vienna, American Way Tax and Accounting, Auto Tech Sales, Westview Motors Inc., Jo’s Vintage Barber Shop, Larry’s Party Shop and Stephanie’s Top Dog Pet Spa and Center.
The Lynchburg Lions Club, Martinsville Lions Club, Lynchburg Historical Society and the Buford Farmers Institute provided dash plaques for every exhibitor.
All exhibitors received dash plaques as a token of appreciation for their participation. A big thanks is extended to all the sponsors and supporters of the show, as well as congratulations to all the winners.
The Lynchburg Lions Club provided the food, and the Lions Club and Martinsville IOOF cosponsored the show. All proceeds will be used for these two groups’ community service projects.
