Local women enjoy birding class at Indian Creek Wildlife Area

The Soil and Water Conservation Districts of Highland, Brown and Adams counties are excited to report that several ladies enjoyed a great evening of birding at the inaugural Tri-County ROW (Real Outdoor Women) event held April 16, 2015 at Indian Creek Wildlife Area.

Participants took part in a birding introduction class led by Diana Malas, Private Lands Biologist with ODNR-Division of Wildlife.

Following a basic overview of bird identification, everyone headed out to wetlands on the Indian Creek Wildlife Area to add a few species to their bird lists. Using binoculars, spotting scopes and keen listening ears, ladies identified Blue-winged Teal, Eastern Kingbird, Carolina Wren and many other birds that evening. Everyone enjoyed the time to work with experienced birders and to explore new techniques for exploring the outdoors.

This event is just the first in the 2015 series. Future topics include canoeing, prairies and archery.
