A special presentation was held Thursday, March 16 at the Liberty Park Veterans Memorial to donate a brand-new John Deere Z315E Zero-Turn mower to caretakers of the memorial, Rick Tipton and his wife, Sherry Hixson.
The Tiptons have both dedicated the past several years to caring for and tending to the daily upkeep duties of this beautiful memorial.
For quite some time now, Mr. Tipton has used a push mower to keep the grounds around the memorial lush and very well maintained, but anyone who is familiar with that area knows that is a lot of ground to maintain in that labor-intensive manner.
Upon learning of this, several local veterans organizations came together with a plan to contribute towards helping make Mr. Tipton’s efforts a little bit easier on him. With the support of Hillsboro’s Ag-Pro, enough funds were donated from AMVETS Post 61, Disabled American Veterans Lloyd C. Ludwick Chapter 123, Mowrystown American Legion Post 694 and VFW Post 9094 - Hillsboro to complete this mission.
The respective veterans organizations involved would like to publicly thank the Tiptons for their time and effort in thinking of and remembering local veterans. They also wish to give a special thanks to Ag-Pro for playing a key role in working to make this event happen.
