Local veterans organizations hosting 'Party on the Patio' concert, dinner Aug. 4

Support Our Troops of Highland County, VFW 9094, VFW 9094 Auxiliary and the PFC Zachary R. Gullett Memorial Trust will host a Party on the Patio veterans benefit concert, featuring local band Blue Steel, on Saturday, Aug. 4 from 7-9 p.m.
A pizza dinner will be held at the VFW Post 9094, 1000 West Main Street, Hillsboro. Meals are $5 and include two slices of pizza and a nonalcoholic drink.

The Blue Steel concert will be held from 8-10 p.m. Tickets are $10 and are required for concert entry. Limited seating will be available, and lawn chairs and canopy tents are welcome. Tickets may be purchased at the VFW, by calling (937) 393-5563 or at the door.
All proceeds will benefit Support Our Troops of Highland County, the VFW 9094 Relief Fund, the VFW 9094 Auxiliary and the PFC Zachary R. Gullett Memorial Trust.
Named for Private First Class Zachary R. Gullett, who died on May 1, 2007, the Memorial Trust previously presented scholarships to students at Hillsboro High School. Now the Memorial Trust looks for ways to help its community via law enforcement or veterans affairs.
Gullett was a 2004 graduate of Hillsboro High School, where he participated in marching band, drama, symphonic choir and football. He was also a member of the Military Police Regimental Association.
In 2005, Gullett attended and graduated from Ohio University-Chillicothe and graduated with a certificate of completion in law enforcement.
Gullett enlisted in the army on Feb. 23, 2006 and reported to Fort Leonard Wood, Mo. for One Station Unit Training (OSUT) as a military policeman. Zachary graduated from OSUT on Aug. 8, 2006. He reported to the 984th MP Co, Fort Carson, Colo. on Aug. 18, 2006.
Gullett was deployed to Iraq on Sept. 16, 2006 and was stationed in Ad Diwaniyah, Iraq. He was very proud to be a military police officer and was planning to pursue a career with the Ohio State Patrol at the conclusion of his five years of enlistment with the Army.
The Aug. 4 concert will be held rain or shine. No refunds will be offered.
