Support Our Troops Of Highland County-
When the opportunity to move into a more handicap-accessible apartment unit came up for a Korean War veteran, Mr. Jimmy Powers of Hillsboro, he knew he didn’t want to miss it. He didn’t know how he would be able to physically move all of his household items with his limited abilities, so he contacted the Highland County Veterans Service Office (HCVSO) to seek help with moving.

Though the Veterans Service Office was unable to physically assist with a request such as Mr. Powers’, their staff was able to help him in contacting a moving company. While discussing options for Mr. Powers’ needs, it was found that that the company, 2 Men and A Truck®, based out of Mason, offers a special discounted rate for non-profit organizations for charitable services.
HCVSO contacted Support Our Troops Of Highland County, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, whose members network with other military and veterans organizations in the area. With their charitable status, along with backup support from the Disabled American Veterans (DAV), Lloyd C. Ludwick - Chapter #123, Mr. Powers was fully set up in his new apartment just a few days after reaching out for assistance.
