Local girls earn Girl Scout Silver Award

Greenfield residents Heather and Emily Parker of Troop 1382 recently earned the Girl Scout Silver Award for a project entitled Scouts for Seniors.

The purpose of the project was to assist seniors with domestic help needs throughout the community.

The Girl Scout Silver Award is the highest award a Girl Scout Cadet may earn. This award symbolizes achievement in leadership development, skill building and community service.

The project benefitted seniors in the Greenfield community through planting flowers, raking leaves, cleaning up yards, sweeping and washing windows, visiting and bringing cheer wherever they were able to assist. This project impacted the Parkers’ lives by teaching the value of serving others and meeting needs in the community.

The Girl Scout Silver Award represents a girl’s accomplishments of Girl Scouting and her community. Through the project, she grows and works to improve her life the lives of others. The award can be earned as a group or individually.

Heather and Emily Parker are the daughters of Chris and Sherry Parker. They attend school in Greenfield.
