Liberty Township Lions Club planting trees for the future

The Liberty Township Lions Club assisted the Ohio State Department of Natural Resources by planting over 170 seedling trees at the Paint Creek State Park maintenance shop nursery on Saturday, April 12.

Walt Saranaan, a club member, organized the service activity to support the preservation of our local state parks and advance the Lions Club's tenet of environmental stewardship. Club members Chris Mahan, Lisa Mahan, Charles Marsh, Irma Marsh, Eric Wilson and Jill Wilson also participated in the event, along with Corey Cover, the park manager for Rocky Fork, Paint Creek and Adams Lake State Parks, and his employees, P. John Umstead and Jerry Varney.   

According to Meghan Wagoner, club president, “The tree planting project is one example of how the Liberty Township Lions serve Hillsboro and the surrounding area. Our members truly have a heart of service for our community, and we welcome others looking for a way to serve to consider joining our club.”

The Liberty Township Lions Club meets on the first and third Monday of the month at 6:30 p.m. in the Highland County Jr. Fair sales building at the Highland County Fairgrounds.
