At the first meeting of the new fiscal year, the Hillsboro Liberty Township Lions Club introduced its leadership team for the 25-26 fiscal year. Officers include Meghan Wagoner (President), Lisa Mahan (Vice President), Jill Wilson (Secretary), Amanda Hall (Treasurer) and Irma Marsh (Vice Treasurer).
During the 24-25 fiscal year, these same ladies led our local Lions Club in serving over 1750 people in our community, with club members giving over 340 volunteer hours. Through their fundraising efforts, they were able to provide two $250 scholarships for campers to Kamp Dovetail and two $1,000 scholarships to 2025 HHS graduates.
In addition to providing financial assistance to those in need, they collected hundreds of empty pill bottles and numerous pairs of glasses, which will be repurposed to help others.
The club planted over 175 trees to help the Ohio DNR stock their nursery, provided supplies to families in need in our community, assisted with the Hillsboro Christmas Tree Lighting event and sent Christmas goodie bags to around 200 elderly and home-bound residents of the county.
The club meets at 6:30 pm the first and third Mondays of the month at the Sales Office at the Highland County Fairgrounds. To follow the club or to learn more, you can visit their Facebook page at www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61563343580216.
