Amid a flurry of doubt when dealing with five inches of snow and zero-degree temperatures, the Leesburg Festival committee joined forces with the Leesburg Lions Club to make sure the annual Luminaria continued on the freezing-cold night of Dec. 14.

The court included (from left) King Will Clouse, Queen Amelia Mann, Prince Warren Lucas and Princess Nora Stuckey.

Businesses open were Batter up Bakery, Southern Hills Bank, Saucy Sister’s and the Dairy Barn. Events moved to the fire house where the royal court was crowned, and the festival group served a soup supper.

Also, the royal court read their winning essays at the fire house where special guests – Santa and the Grinch – could listen in, also.

The luminarias kept thoughts of the warmth of friendship to ward off the abnormally frigid December weather.
