Leesburg artist reveals 2nd mural for all to enjoy

On July 30, Leesburg artist Mia Melson had her second commissioned mural installed at the site of the former Leesburg Dairy Bar, which has since been demolished and a park-like setting has been established.
Melson’s first mural was installed a few years ago when then-Mayor Danny Daulton asked her to create a mural.
After lots of collaboration and research, the six historical sites to be depicted were decided. The chosen historical sites evoked lots of memories for current and former Leesburg residents.
Once again, Melson was asked do another mural. Due to the pandemic, the collaboration process lagged somewhat, and Melson took it upon herself to research historical sites and make some decisions on her own as she produced another amazing mural for Leesburg.
Melson stated that she loves the small town she lives in and everyone that lives there.
Melson explained her painting technique to those in attendance and answered questions during the installation. By the care she took to unload those panels, prep them to be hung and attend to their hanging by village employees, it’s very apparent that Melson loves the village where she lives.
