KFC gives back to community

Colonel Harland Sanders' secret recipe to a well-lived life included giving back to the community and helping those causes in need.
KFC sponsored the Sidewalk Chalk Art Contest at the Festival of the Bells and donated the entry fees to the Highland County Humane Society. The HCHS is a not-for-profit business and depends on donations from the community as well as adoption fees to help keep the business operating.
Lesley Lightner, a volunteer at the Humane Society said, “Our slogan 'Adopt, don't shop' is for those of us who are trying to find homes for these wonderful animals in our care.

"While they are with us, they receive love and excellent care, but as Dorothy once said to Toto, 'There's no place like home!' We would love to place every one of ours in his or her own home.”
Keith Chambers, a spokesperson for KFC, said, “We at KFC want to nourish our communities and help these great intentioned organizations that are in need.”
