KAMP Dovetail hosts ribbon-cutting for new shower facility

Lead Summary

Stormi Bledsoe-

KAMP Dovetail (9800 North Shore Drive, Hillsboro) held a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Saturday, June 14 to celebrate the new shower facility on the property.

KAMP Dovetail is a summer camp that is run by a group of fantastic volunteers and sponsored by S.A.T.H. (Supplemental Assistance to The Handicapped). The camp is offered to children with disabilities in local counties.

KAMP Dovetail Director Linda Allen gave a bit of background of what went into getting this facility.

"This was a project that began eight years ago when at that time Dave Daniels was our State Representative, and he was able to secure a $100,000 grant for the showers for KAMP," Allen said. "After lots of paperwork and legal issues, we finally completed the project just days before this year's KAMP began."

Due to inflation, the cost of the shower house was over $140,000.  SATH appreciates the partnership with Rocky Fork State Park and their financial support to make improvements at the Dovetail Activity Area.

SATH would like to thank all the people who were involved in making this day possible.
