HUBA barbecue contest winners announced

Hillsboro Uptown Business Association held their second annual Barbecue Contest at Holtfield Station on Saturday, July 6.
Nine teams competed for three different prizes.
Dan Music, the chief cook for the Highland County Sheriff's Office team won first prize for the judging category.
Second place went to St. Mary Catholic School, whose chief cook was Scott Parsons.
Third place in the judging category was won by Shawn Surber’s team, High on the Hog.
Hundreds of people attended the event to sample the barbecue for a donation and vote on the “People’s Choice Award” and “Showmanship Award.”
High on the Hog placed first for the “Peoples Choice” award and Randy Jenkin’s team, Pig Dynasty, took home the “Showmanship Award.”
The event raised over $900 for HUBA.
John Hern, chairman of the event stated, “Although fewer teams competed this year, the turnout by the public was tremendous. I want to thank all the teams and their sponsors for their participation and also thank the many people that came to sample the barbecue and support the event. Also a big thanks to Holtfield Station for allowing us to use their facility.”
